Web design Technologies
We will speak to you about your site in plain English, however sometimes we need to use certain terminology when discussing the spec of your project with our developers. This page is here to give you a 'heads-up' on what we mean and which technologies we currently use.
XHTML 1.0 Strict Extensible Hypertext Markup Language. Describes the content of your website.
CSS 2.0 Cascading Style Sheet. Describes to your web browser how to display your website. Layout, colors and which fonts to use can all be controled by CSS.
PHP A web scripting language. PHP is used to add to dynamic functionality to your website - things like content management systems or a shopping basket. Other popular languages include ASP, JavaScript, and ActionScript.
MySQL or MSSQL Database management system. When your website requires a database, e.g. for storing information about products on an e-commerce site, MySQL or MS SQL are the most widely used management systems.
Payment Gateways Used for processing online payments. We have experience with Sage Pay (formally Protx), Nochex, PayPoint (previously SecPAY), WorldPay, RomanCart and PayPal payment gateways.
